Campaign Story

My name is Yaimee, and I am writing to sincerely request financial assistance to pursue in vitro fertilization (IVF), the only viable path for me to become a mother. I am 46 years old and recently married to a wonderful man with whom I share the dream of building a family of our own.

Almost 20 years ago, while living in Cuba, I suffered two ectopic pregnancies — the last of which occurred on March 8th, International Women’s Day. That date is etched in my memory not as a celebration, but as a reminder of what I lost. In Cuba, IVF and fertility treatment options are not available, and due to the lack of access to proper care, I lost both of my fallopian tubes. Since then, I have lived with the painful belief that motherhood would never be possible for me.

Even after all these years, the days leading up to March 8th still bring sadness and depression, because I’ve always associated being a woman with the ability to nurture and create life — something I felt was taken from me. But life has recently offered me renewed hope. I am now married to a loving, supportive husband. I am healthy, active, and have always been a nurturing person — caring for my family, my dog, and now my husband, whom I love with all my heart.

Unfortunately, IVF is financially out of reach for us. The treatment costs between $15,000 and $25,000, which we simply cannot afford. I am currently the sole income provider, and while I can manage our everyday needs, it is impossible to save for such an expensive procedure — especially given my age and how little time I have left to try.

My husband is in the process of adjusting his immigration status, and once resolved, he is eager to contribute and provide for our future family. For now, we rely solely on my income, and we’re doing everything we can to prepare emotionally and physically for this journey. What we lack is the financial means.

Receiving this grant would be more than financial relief — it would be the restoration of a dream I believed was lost long ago. It would mean the world to us and would allow us to finally pursue the family we long for.

Thank you for considering our story and for the opportunity you offer to couples like us. We are profoundly grateful for your time, compassion, and support.

With heartfelt gratitude, Yaimee and Viktor.
